We provide diagnostic and treatment services to children and adults with developmental speech sound disorders and fluency disorders. We have experience working with children and adults with the following additional diagnoses:

Evaluations

Sulaiman Speech Therapy provides comprehensive speech evaluations for suspected speech sound delays and disorders including articulation, phonological, and motor speech based deficits.  Sulaiman Speech Therapy also provides speech evaluations for children with suspected fluency disorders due to  stuttering or cluttering. Sulaiman Speech Therapy utilizes a combination of formal standardized measures and informal measures including in-depth examination of the speech mechanism to differentially diagnose speech and fluency disorders, as well as to rule out any medical factors that may be contributing to difficulty communicating. A written evaluation report will be completed with recommendations. 

Articulation Therapy

We provide therapy for the following:

  • lateral and interdental lisp

  • distorted production of /r/ and vocalic /r/

  • sound substitution errors

  • other sound distortion errors

  • errors related to tongue thrust

  • compensatory errors due to structural anomalies

Phonological Therapy

We provide therapy for the following:​

    • Using immature but typical error patterns when speaking such as final consonant deletion or syllable reduction.​

    • Using immature and atypical error patterns when speaking such as backing​

Childhood Apraxia of Speech & Dysarthria Therapy

We provide therapy for the following:​

  • Children with a diagnoses of Childhood Apraxia of Speech, a motor speech disorder characterized by imprecise articulatory transitions, errors in prosody and voicing, and inconsistent productions.​​

  • Children with a diagnoses of Dysarthria, a motor speech disorder characterized by slurred speech, hoarse vocal quality, and imprecise articulatory precision.

Therapy interventions may include

  • Dynamic Tactile and Temporal Cueing

  • Rapid Syllable Transition Treatment

  • Back Chaining

Therapy for Fluency Disorders

We provide therapy for the following:​

  • Children with a diagnoses of  a stuttering disorder characterized by stuttering-like disfluencies, use of concomitant behaviors, and trouble communicating across contexts.

  • Children with a diagnoses of a cluttering disorder characterized by non-stuttering-like disfluencies, rapid rate of speech, and language deficits.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication

Is your child extremely hard to understand? For children with low speech intelligibility (or significantly decreased ability to be understood), Sulaiman Speech Therapy can assist with securing a communication device for your child to decrease frustration and improve communication and language skills, while working toward improving speech sound production. Phonological Awareness Therapy

Is your child having trouble learning to read and spell? Children with speech sound disorders often struggle with phonological awareness, a critical skill involved in learning to reading. Phonological awareness is the ability to listen to, recognize, and manipulate spoken sounds, syllables, and words.
